HUMBER SCEPTRE V8

As you may have read elsewhere on this site, the original plan was for this 1963 Mk1 Humber Sceptre to receive a 16 valve 2 litre twin cam unit from a Rover 220 GTi. However, our plans changed and we are now in the process of fitting a Rover V8 lump together with an LT77 5 speed gearbox.

To make room for the V8 we've had to modify the engine bay somewhat by opening up the transmission tunnel and redesigning the bulkhead. During this process we also took the opportunity to close off the open channels in the top of the Sceptre's chassis rails to give a cleaner, smoother look.

Trying the V8 for size, (upper bulkhead mods already carried out).

Transmission tunnel widened, chassis rails plated over, ribs
on inner wings cut back to clear the exhaust manifolds.
